We have started discussions with the Tonto about how the Sycamore Creek area could be at least conditionally reopened. I’d like to get some of your input on the skeleton of a plan that we discussed. First some info about what’s going on and upcoming status changes. The Sycamore Creek and Rolls OHV areas are both currently closed due to the Bush fire which happened this summer. The Rolls was closed to allow time for a post-fire assessment which has been done. The Sycamore area is closed over concerns about record level flash flooding possibilities in Sycamore Creek after rain events in the Bush fire scar. You should know that the Mesa district is planning to reopen most of the Rolls area in the near future. However, up until recently, Sycamore was to be left closed at least until a major rain event comes through and flushes out some of the fire debris. Obviously, there has been no rain to perform that cleaning out. I believe that there is significant desire from the OHV community to reopen Sycamore at least conditionally. But I’d like to hear from some of you as well. So, the first question is what are you hearing from friends, family club members, etc. about Sycamore? Are you hearing about a need to reopen or not so much? More on the basics of a plan later today...

In Meetings & Minutes
The regular date for the November TRAL meeting would fall on the 11th which is Veteran's Day and a federal holiday. We are moving the meeting to November 18th from 7-8PM to allow Tonto staff to attend on a day that is not a holiday for them. Sending out an email as well.

The Mesa district is working to get the Rolls OHV area reopened. They are installing some gates to restrict access to the areas where there is flooding concern. Should be another couple of weeks.

In Events Hosted by Other Groups
The 11th annual Four Peaks Cleanup/Revegetation project is Saturday, November 7th. Please see the cleanup site for more information and to register. Note that the event is being hosted by Copper State 4 Wheelers and so is not listed as an event on the TRAL events page. Volunteer hours will be reported by Copper State and the Mesa District.

In 2019 we lost our forum. We have been getting by without one but especially with the COVID situation, we need to use all practical methods to stay connected. A big thanks to Trent Shue for volunteering to bring this forum up. And as always thanks for volunteering with TRAL to care for the great OHV opportunities in the Tonto. Rich
